Instinctive Drives™

The Instinctive Drives System identifies 4 instincts:

  • The Instinct to Verify
  • The Instinct to Authenticate
  • The Instinct to Complete
  • The Instinct to Improvise

You can either be driven to Use or Avoid each of the drives and sometimes you may be ‘in neutral’ – all directions are good, they’re just different!

When you take the I.D. questionnaire, you’ll discover the specific combination of drives, directions and intensities that make up your Instinctive Drives – your very own personal success code.

The Instinct to Verify

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO USE THE INSTINCT TO VERIFY

You’re at your best when you have a purpose and understand the why behind the things you’re being asked to do. You need to think things through and thrive on the mental stimulation of a complex problem. You’re wired to work out the right way to do the right thing at the right time, seeking feedback to give you reassurance that, yes, you’re on the right track.

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO AVOID THE INSTINCT TO VERIFY

To begin with, you don't really see things as right or wrong - they ‘just are what they are’. You’re wired to be accepting of people, circumstances and events and keep moving forward. You’ll thrive in an inclusive and encouraging environment where you can trust and act on your ‘sense of knowing’ without having to explain or justify yourself to others.

The Instinct to Authenticate

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO USE THE INSTINCT TO AUTHENTICATE

For you, it’s all about the tangible, the practical and the actionable. The clearer the picture of what’s required and what you can do to help the better. You thrive amongst those who do what they say and say what they do. You’re compelled to move things from talking to doing and get personally involved, to deliver tangible results that make a real difference.

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO AVOID THE INSTINCT TO AUTHENTICATE

You’re driven to aim for ideal outcomes, aligned to your dreams and values. You’re wired to perceive sensitivities, subtleties and what’s going on beneath the surface: feelings, thoughts, and perceptions. You’re motivated when you see multiple and exponential benefits coming from your input, especially when you can engage others to get involved, enabling greater things to be achieved.

The Instinct to Complete

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO USE THE INSTINCT TO COMPLETE

Everything in your world is connected – work, home, people, interests, projects, plans and activities. If you make a change to just one thing and you can immediately see all the ramifications. For this reason, you’re wired to create plans that ensure everything runs smoothly, and stays organised and on-track. You’ll thrive when things go according to plan and you can focus, gain momentum and make rapid progress.

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO AVOID THE INSTINCT TO COMPLETE

You thrive on flexibility and the freedom to do things your way, working it out as you go - experimenting, innovating and finding the quickest route from start to finish. You’re at your best when you have short-term goals that deliver quick wins. Predictability and routine bore you. Your motivation is highest when you have variety and can move between a mix of people, projects and activities.

The Instinct to Improvise

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO USE THE INSTINCT TO IMPROVISE

You’re at your best in a positive environment, surrounded by passionate, can-do people. You’re wired to find and create possibilities, and to simplify the complex. You will be most energized when making a powerful impression and impact! When timelines are tight, and others say it can’t be done, you’re even more motivated to make it happen!

IF YOU’RE DRIVEN TO AVOID THE INSTINCT TO IMPROVISE

You’re wired to commit only when confident that something can actually be done and you’re certain you can follow through on what you’ve promised. You’re at your best when you can think things through and assess any risks - at your own pace - without feeling rushed or pressured. You’ll thrive in an environment where you bring your logical, calm and even-keeled approach to things and where you can avoid excessive drama and hype.

The I.D. changed my life! I really understand myself for the first time ever. Everyone should do it. It’s easy, fun and full of useful information.

Lisa, I.D. 6682

I discovered my Instinctive Drives two years ago. It has been transformational for me personally and professionally. How would I quantify its value? Let’s just say if somebody ever offers you your I.D. on one hand and the keys to a Ferrari on the other: take the I.D.!

Johan, I.D. 5447

I have known my I.D. for over 15 years and have found it really compelling as a leadership instrument. It has proven to be a very valuable framework to build and reinvigorate my teams. It has also been extremely important to guide the pivotal business and career decisions I have made.

Michael Clarke

Learning about my I.D. created an "ah-ha" moment in my life that continues to bring benefits every day - 20 years later! I learned to pay close attention to things I’d previously ignored, denied or just not accepted.

Linda, I.D. 2539

I loved the I.D. for three reasons – (1) Accuracy! (2) It gave all our team members great insights into each other and a better understanding of the different skills people bring to the workplace (3) Completing the I.D. is simple with instant and comprehensive results.

What I’ve learned about my I.D. changed the way in which I understood myself and that impact has been immense. Having such clarity about what moves you as an individual and what motivates your actions - well that’s been enormous for me.

Ruark, I.D. 6734

Understanding my I.D. along with my partners has made a profound impact on the success of my personal and professional life. A crucial tool for everyone I believe! I'm spreading the word.

Diana, I.D. 2756

As an Executive Consultant to corporate leaders, I’ve intensely used the I.D. for over a decade and watched it repeatedly transform leaders, teams and relationships with minimum disruption to the business. It is a game changer.

Gwen Parks, I.D. 7247

Certified I.D. Partner, Executive Consultant, Gwen Parks Group

I.D. has helped me better understand that I am who I am -- an evangelist, people person, team making improviser. Embracing my drives and leaning into them will help make me into the best version of myself I can possibly be!

Rainya, I.D. 3348

Through I.D. we discovered that my wife and I are driven similarly in some ways – and totally opposite in others! Now we’re able to manage things in a way that no longer drives each other crazy – and plays to our different strengths.

Geraint, I.D. 4547

By simply knowing another person’s I.D., and them knowing yours, what would typically be an argument turns into a much more productive conversation. You know what their focus is, and you can discuss how to meet both of your goals and deal with both sets of concerns.

Thomas, I.D. 7734

The I.D. System has helped me re-craft my conversations with my team and peers, and it has helped me to become more self-aware of the impact of my style on others.
